What to Expect During Your Dental Crown Procedure
The dental crown procedure typically requires two appointments at our Novi, MI office. We take precise molds (impressions) of your tooth during your initial visit. These molds are essential for creating a crown that fits you perfectly. To protect your tooth while your custom crown is being fabricated, we fashion a temporary crown, which will remain in place for approximately two weeks.
Your dentist will then prepare your tooth by shaping its surface to ensure a proper fit for the crown. Once these steps are complete, we place your temporary tooth crown with temporary cement and verify that your bite is aligned correctly.
During your second appointment, we carefully remove the temporary crown, clean your tooth, and delicately affix your new tooth crown, guaranteeing that spacing and bite are accurately maintained. This process ensures the long-lasting durability and functionality of your restored tooth.
